Charcoal Prices.jpg
  • Cat or dog headshot, one pet per portrait.

  • No background.

  • Charcoal portraits are perfect for getting a lot of contrast, as well as deep and dark blacks.

  • Charcoal takes a bit less time, but it is more difficult to get a lot of very small details with.

  • Prices shown don’t include shipping costs.

  • You may request to have a different size than those listed, prices will be close to those listed.

  • Prices may also vary based on the complexity of the drawing (If there are more time consuming details, such as a collar with intricate patterns, price may increase).

Pencil Prices.jpg
  • Cat or dog headshot, one pet per portrait.

  • No background.

  • Pencil portraits are perfect for adding lots of fine details that are not as easy to achieve with charcoal.

  • Prices shown don’t include shipping costs.

  • You may request to have a different size than those listed, prices will be close to those listed.

  • Prices may also vary based on the complexity of the drawing (If there are more time consuming details, such as a collar with intricate patterns, price may increase).

Info
Important Information for Traditional Commissions:

Process:

  • Send me an email at fireandonyx.art@gmail.com and let me know what type of commission you would like to request, as well as the size you would like for your portrait. Please send a reference photo in your initial email.

  • This is sent to me to review, and after reviewing I will send you an email if I am accepting your commission.

  • I will reply with a quote and ask any questions if needed to get more information for your commission.

  • Once you have confirmed the price quote and answered any questions, I will send you a payment invoice via email and request payment via PayPal or Venmo (whichever you prefer).

  • Once I receive payment I will start drawing!

  • I will send an email with the work in progress sketch. At this point you can let me know if you would like changes to the sketch.

  • I will send photos of the finished piece, and ask if you would like any small changes. (Major changes are not usually possible at this point, and will cost extra money if possible.)

  • I will send photos of the finished piece, and ask for a mailing address via email.

  • After I receive your mailing address, I will mail the portrait to you as soon as possible.

On Your End:

  • Please give me as much information as possible for your commission! Please send me photos of the subject. It is preferable for me to just work from one main photo, but extra photos can be used as well. Make sure the photo has good lighting (outside is best) and good quality. Don't send me photos of someone else's artwork.

  • If you aren't sure what material you would like me to use, I can recommend one for you based off of your photo. Some fur types will look better if done with one material over the other. Black and dark fur, for example, is most likely best suited as a charcoal portrait.

  • You are welcome to post photos of your commission, as long as you credit me with my Instagram handle (@fireandonyx.art) and/or a link to my website.

  • If your piece is a gift for someone and you do not want me to post it before you give it to them (or if you don't want me to post it at all), you need to let me know! If you are fine with me posting it after you have given the commission to the recipient, please let me know when it is ok for me to post it.

  • You may not create prints of my traditional artwork. If you want to do this to give a copy to a friend or family member, please ask me before doing so.

  • DO NOT remove any watermarks/logos/signatures on your artwork.

  • DO NOT try to claim my art as your own.

On My End:

  • I don’t use other people’s art as references because I feel like that would be like copying another artist’s work or ideas. If you send photos of another artist’s art, I won’t use it.

  • Please note that I will most likely post a photo of the finished product on my Instagram, @fireandonyx.art, as well as possibly on my art website and/or portfolio website and/or use the commission in my portfolio. If you do not want me to post your commission, please let me know.

  • I am allowed to decline any commission without explanation.

Wait Time:

  • Commissions can take a while to complete, especially if my schedule is full, so make sure to give plenty of time if you want the commission done by a certain date.

  • Please allow 2-3 months for me to complete your commission. I try my best to get it done as soon as possible, and usually it will not take more than a month, but sometimes I get busy and have multiple projects to work on.

  • I do not to accept "rush orders".

Pricing/Payment:

  • I will only start a commission if at least half of the commission is paid.

  • Once the commission is completed I will ask for the remaining payment.

  • I accept payment via PayPal or Venmo. I let you choose between those two.

  • Pricing is not flexible.

  • Prices may change within a month or two. If you order a commission and I change the price guide, I will not increase the price that we agreed on if you have already paid it fully or partially.

Photograph Information:

In order for me to create your portrait, I will need you to provide photos of the pet you want me to draw.

I have provided some guidelines to photographs below:

  • Photos of your pet with natural lighting work the best. Taking your pet outside on a nice day is the optimal way of getting a nice photo. If you can’t take your pet outside, perhaps try taking a photo with them sitting near a window during the day.

  • It is also really helpful if I can get a photo with good resolution. Photos taken on your phone are fine, as long as they are of good quality.

  • I work from one main photo in order to capture the details and make the portrait look realistic. If the photo is blurry, doesn’t have good lighting, or does not have good resolution, I might not be able to use it.

  • Take lots of photos, not just one or two. This gives you a better chance of getting a good photo.

  • If you have multiple photos and are unsure of which one to send, feel free to send a few and I can help you decide on which one will be the best choice.

If you have any questions or are are interested in commissioning me, you can send me an email at fireandonyx.art@gmail.com. I would love to hear from you!
